Only Elopements or, "Just the Two of You" private weddings are offered at Serenity's Edge.
INFORMATION FOR LICENSES: Virginia Marriage License Requirements & Procedure: No blood test, waiting time or residency are required. Once you have your license you can marry immediately! Both of you must apply for your license together at any Virginia courthouse. A valid ID is needed, including a picture, current address and date of birth. You must be at least 18 years old. Serenity's Edge cannot provide your marriage license--this is a legal process which you must do yourself. Once you are married, your license will be filled out by the marriage officiate at Serenity's Edge and sent back to the court house where you purchased your license. It is then recorded by the clerk of the court. If you need certified copies of your license they may be obtained from that court house at about $3.00 per copy. IMPORTANT! There have been instances where couples have waited until the last minute to get their license only to find the court house closed. If you have not gotten your Virginia license, you cannot be married. Note: The Floyd Court house is usually open on Saturday mornings to get licenses If getting your license from Bedford County (this is 12 miles from Serenity's Edge) and you need more information, call the Bedford County Circuit Court Clerk's office at (540) 586-7632. Below is a list of the clerk offices for marriage licenses & telephone numbers. Click on the county and the location information will come up. Individual Circuit Courts in Virginia http://www.courts.state.va.us/courts/circuit.html Saturday Morning VA Courthouse Hours In the entire State of Virginia, Floyd County is the only courthouse that usually offers Saturday hours, 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM--except Holiday weekends. It is important to call first to make sure they are open. Phone: (540) 745-9330. Hours vary at the courthouses, but usually are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday--except Holidays. Some are closed for half a day and some take off an hour for lunch. DATE BOOKING POLICY: When you wish to reserve your wedding date, a credit card (Visa or Master Card) is required to secure it. When reserving only the Ceremony package: Full payment is due at the time you reserve your wedding date.
Half the total price is charged (Visa or Master Card) the day your date is reserved. The balance of payment is due 21 days in advance. If booking 20 days or less in advance, the entire payment is due on the day of booking. You will receive a confirmation letter and a receipt when your payment is processed via e-mail. If you need to change your date or cancel: Once you have reserved your wedding date, if you need to permanently cancel your plans 20 days or less before your reserved date, your payment is refundable ONLY if your present date and/or cottage can be re-booked. In the case where your date is re-booked, a check will be mailed to you after your original reserved date, less a $100. If you need to re-schedule your wedding after your full payment has been credited and with at least 21 days or more advance notice, we will gladly re-schedule your wedding up to six months. After your arrival, if you elect an early departure, no refunds are given.. LEGAL POLICY FOR SERVING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT WEDDINGS: If you are an overnight guest at Serenity's Edge, we can serve you a champagne toast (if you wish) at the wedding. No other alcoholic beverages are permitted at the wedding. If you are NOT an overnight guest staying at Serenity's Edge, we cannot serve you any alcoholic beverage, nor are any alcoholic beverages allowed on the property.
